Man Breaches McCarran Security to Steal Jet

Genius Villain Rams Limousine Through Gates, Fails Entirely

Security at Las Vegas, Nevada's McCarran International Airport had a rare bout of excitement when Matthew Hancock, 36, was arrested for attempting a breach of the security wire for the intention of stealing aircraft to fly to Area 51.

The fiasco began when officers responded to an evening call reporting a vehicle performing donuts in the parking lot of the local FBO, which was quickly updated with the information that the car had breached the FBOs security gates to drive haphazardly about the aircraft ramp. Witnesses later reported that Hancock parked his limo between a parked jet when he exited, wearing a clown mask and screamed about his possession of a bomb, threatening to explode it in the area. Employees fled and he reentered his vehicle, when responding officers ordered him to surrender. He complied but warned them that his limo contained a "gasoline device", and he had come to the airport to steal a jet in order to "fly to Area 51 to look at aliens".

Officers were ready to chalk his behavior up to run-of-the-mill on-duty weirdness until they saw a roughly created, pressurized tank with heavy gauge wiring wrapped on a wooden platform in the backseat, consistent with a poorly made explosive device. Metro police response kicked into high gear, bringing in detectives from counterterrorism, SWAT, LV Fire & Rescue, the FBI, and local Explosives specialists.

Air traffic through McCarran was temporarily halted out of an abundance of caution. The arrested told officers he was famous on video sharing app Tik Tok for his viral limousine drifting performances on the Las Vegas Strip a few weeks prior, which was later found to be a partial truth, showing instead erratic, unskilled driving to the endangerment of those present. Hancock had received a ticket on November 11 for reckless driving, and now faces additional charges for his more recent behavior.

Hancock had also previously threatened a local law firm while referring to himself as "the chosen one", as well as demanding money under threat of extortion should the office not give in to his demands. After his arrest, he told the courts that the firm would provide his representation, which has (unsurprisingly) not come to pass. In all, he is charged with communicating a bomb threat, the dispersal of a hoax substance, false threats regarding an act of terrorism, and trespass.
