magniX and Harbour Air Ink LOI for 50 magni650 Electric Engines
In a landmark agreement announced on April 22, 2024, magniX, a leader in electric aviation technology, has entered into a Letter of Intent with Harbour Air to supply 50 magni650 electric engines. This initiative is set to transform Harbour Air, North America's largest seaplane operator, by electrifying its fleet starting with the iconic De Havilland DHC-2 Beaver aircraft.

The collaboration between magniX and Harbour Air dates back to December 2019 when they achieved a historic milestone by successfully retrofitting and flying the eBeaver, making it the world's first fully electric commercial aircraft. This latest agreement aims to further electrify Harbour Air's fleet and facilitate third-party conversions, signaling a significant advancement in sustainable regional aviation.
Riona Armesmith, Chief Technology Officer at magniX, emphasized the significance of this partnership and its alignment with broader environmental goals. "Electrifying Harbour Air's fleet with magniX's engines sets us on a course to define the future of regional flight," she stated. "The many flights that the eBeaver has now completed with magniX's technology demonstrate that the electric age of aviation is here and bringing it to the marketplace is growing rapidly closer. As we mark Earth Day, we recognize the urgency of solutions such as this in answering the climate challenge."

The magni650 engine is a cornerstone of this transformation, designed to power not only the initial conversion of the DHC-2 Beaver but also other aircraft models in the future. This initiative is part of a broader movement within the aviation industry to adopt more sustainable practices and technologies.
Bert van der Stege, CEO of Harbour Air, also commented on the impact of this agreement on the future of aviation. "We are excited to accelerate the adoption of electric aviation technology and further our journey towards a sustainable future," said van der Stege. "The agreement with magniX underscores our commitment to revolutionize commercial aviation with electric propulsion and to pave the way for cleaner, quieter, and more efficient air travel."
This agreement not only marks a significant step in the journey towards a greener aviation industry but also reinforces the potential of electric propulsion systems in transforming how regional air travel operates, paving the way for a cleaner and more sustainable future.
