Hartzell Teams Ready for Reno Air Races

Grove Aero Sport Aims for 400 mph+ While Honda 90 Race Preps Classic T-6 Texan

Hartzell Engine Tech branded air charging systems will be making an appearance at the upcoming Reno Air Racing Association's annual race.

Hartzell's sponsored teams will make use of their in-air charging systems, using modern AeroForce turbochargers and Jasco alternators to power their racing aircraft. Grove Aero Sport and Honda Generators 90 Race Team will be representing Hartzell at the Stihl National Championship Air Races taking place through September 18th. This year's competition is stiff, with 152 pilots and 156 aircraft competing throughout the multi-day event.

The Honda Generators Race 90 Team will once again be bringing their signature AT-6 Beechcraft Texan to the meet, building on more than 40 years of tradition in air racing. The family run racing team has been building, restoring, and racing AT-6 Texans the whole time, collecting a string of medals to add to their collection each step of the way. Grove Aero has plenty to look forward to as well. The California company has been hard at work tuning their customized Lancair Legacy RG with an aim to break 400 mph.

“Hartzell Engine Tech is all about maximizing flying performance, so what better way to showcase our products than by sponsoring air race teams at the world’s fastest motorsport,” said company president Keith Bagley. “We will be at Reno in booth 33-35, jointly exhibiting our products with Hartzell Propeller and Hartzell Aerospace Welding, all under the Hartzell Aviation banner,” he added.

For those unfamiliar, the Hartzell Engine Tech brand is indeed expansive, boasting a handful of subsidiaries involved in aeronautical powerplants. AeroForce provides turbochargers and associated systems, Sky-Tec a range of piston engine starters, Plane-Power a series of alternators and voltage regulators, Janitrol a lineup of cabin heating systems, and Fuelcraft a full range of engine-driven fuel pumps. (And that's leaving out the other higher-level companies in the family tree like Hartzell Propeller, Tanis, Hartzell Aviation, and Hartzell Aerospace Welding.)

The Reno Air Races run from September 14th to 18th.
