Two Fatally Injured In CA Accident

Third Person Survived When The Plane Went Down

A father and son were fatally injured Friday when the plane they were aboard went down in the area of Black Oak Golf Course in Auburn, CA.

According to the Placer County Sheriff's Office, three people were onboard the non-commercial aircraft when it went near the golf course. The two fatally injured have been identified as 0-year old Anthony Lawrence Wright Sr. of Meadow Vista, and 55-year old Anthony Lawrence Wright Jr. of Meadow Vista. Wright Jr. was a reserve officer and a full-time records officer with the Rancho Cordova Police Department.

Deputies observed fuel leaking from the wreckage and immediately worked to extract the three people inside. One victim was found deceased at the scene and the second victim was life-flighted to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. The third victim was taken to the hospital for moderate to major injuries.

Television station KOLO reports that the aircraft was a Stinson Vultee V-77. Television station KCRA reports that the plane went down in a residential back yard near the Auburn Municipal Airport.

Investigators with the NTSB and the FAA will be investigating all other details of the crash, including where the flight originated and what was the intended destination.
