Miracle Flights Offers Free Last-Minute Medical Flights Through December 31

Charity Waives Advanced Notice Requirement Through Holiday Season To Help Patients With Immediate Medical Needs

Patients who need a medical flight on short notice this holiday season are in luck. National medical flight charity Miracle Flights is waiving its minimum requirement of 14-days' advance notice through the end of the year to accommodate those with immediate medical needs and last-minute appointments.

Established in 1985, the Las Vegas–based national nonprofit organization provides free commercial air travel to critically ill children and adults who require specialized medical care far from home. Flights are coordinated at no cost to patients and their families for one-time visits, follow-up appointments and ongoing treatment.

Typically, Miracle Flights requires families to submit a flight request at least two weeks prior to their appointment date, but according to Miracle Flights CEO Mark E. Brown, that can be particularly difficult this time of year.

"For many of the patients we fly, there is just one doctor in the entire country who specializes in their condition, and the waiting list can be several weeks long to get an appointment," said Brown. "If a last-minute cancellation comes up—and they often do this time of year—a patient needs to get there right away. Miracle Flights has the cure for distance to make that possible. If you have the appointment, we'll get you there, no advanced notice needed."

Miracle Flights is extending this offer through December 31, 2017
