Top Gun: Dreamliner vs A380

From The Department Of People With A Bit Of Extra Time On Their Hands

We often hear about "rivals" Boeing and Airbus ... and indeed, the two mega-conglomerates are locked in a very competitve battle for the billions of dollars both say will be spent on airliners in the coming 20 years.

But when it comes right down to it, its a war waged on paper ... or the electronic equivilant. It's all about balance sheets and profit margins, not actual combat.

But what if it were? What if Boeing's Dreamliner and the Airbus A380 were to duke it out, plane-o-a-plane-o like they were ... oh we don't know ... a Tomcat and a MiG?

Well, through some very creative editing, extensive CGI, and lengthy legal documents granting permission to use clips from the movie "Top Gun," the folks at 3D-Aviation have put Airbus' Super Jumbo hot on the tail of Boeing's Dreamliner ... piloted by Tom Cruise as Maverick. Suspend your disbelief as the two people-haulers execute maneuvers never anticipated by the designers of the airplanes at speeds twice what they'd normally fly low over the California desert.

It's enough to make you think, just for a second .... What If?
