Gone West: 'Rocket Man' Hal Graham

Designer Of The Original Jet Pack

Harold "Hal" Graham, who is credited with designing and flying the original jet pack, was found dead in Crossville, Tennessee on October 22nd. Graham was "in his 70's."

Jet Pack Based On Graham Design

Graham was an engineer who developed the jet pack in the early 1960's even demonstrating his "Bell Rocket" to President Kennedy in 1961. He also showed it to representatives of the Pentagon.

Television station WTVF in Nashville reports that Graham was an avid aviator who's life revolved around the airport. He had most recently been owner and operator of Cumberland Air Charter in Crossville, his hometown. Funeral arrangements are pending.
