John-John's First Plane For Sale

Minimum Bid For 1977 Cessna 182: $180,000

John F. Kennedy, Jr.'s first airplane is up for auction on the internet.

The son of former President John Kennedy sold the aircraft a year before his Piper Saratoga went down in the water near Martha's Vineyard (MA) in 1999. The accident also killed his wife, Carolyn and his sister-in-law.

The red, white and blue 182Q was registered as N529JK, a tribute to the late president, whose birthday was May 29th.

"It is in perfect working order," Lelands.com president Michael Heffner was quoted as saying. Lelands.com is handling the auction.

It's not the first time N529JK has been on the block. It was up for sale in 2000, but its owner, who prefers to remain anonymous, didn't get the price he was looking for.

Bidding in the online auction begins November 10th with a minimum bid of $180,000. The auction will be closed December 2nd.
