Source: Kathleen Allen, director of the University of Southern California's Marshall Center for Technology Commercialization, giving a cautious warning to those who have won "free" tickets into orbit onboard forthcoming commercial spaceflight vehicles. Allen isn't warning about safety issues... but rather the unforeseen tax burden on those tickets. In most cases, winners are on the hook to pay taxes on the value of the tickets, same as lottery winners and game show contestants.
