Idaho GOP Official Suffers Broken Back In Emergency Landing

Cause Of The Accident Has Not Been Determined

A Beech King Air C90A went down in a field Thursday night while on approach to Idaho Falls Regional Airport, resulting in one of the passengers suffering broken back.

FAA records indicate that the "aircraft on landing crashed near the Idaho Falls regional Airport near Idaho Falls, ID" with three people on board. The Beech C90A King Air was registered to We Fly LLC of Idaho Falls, ID,

First responder Sgt. Jeff Edwards said that all three people were out of the plane when they arrived. Two were ambulatory. According to a report in the Idaho Statesman, one of those on board was Damond Watkins, one of three Idaho members of the Republican National Committee. He was transported to a hospital in Idaho Falls and underwent surgery for a broken back Friday.

Watkins is vice president of corporate relations for a company called Melaleuca, which manufactures a line of cleaning products it says are “environmentally friendly.” He was returning from a meeting of the Idaho association of Commerce and Industry in Boise, ID, when the accident occurred.
