CAF Gets Into The Act

Vintage Warbirds Fly Relief Missions To Gulf Coast

On display for years as memorabilia of wars gone by, at least two warbirds from the Commemorative Air Force have been pressed into service on relief missions to the hurricane-ravaged Gulf Coast.

Aero-News reader Randall Stevens reports the CAF is flying missions into Slidell, LA, with an A-26B and a C-47.

The aircraft are carrying much-needed fuel as on-the-ground relief forces are running out of necessities and their generators are running out of gas. Stevens reports the CAF flights are bringing in perishibles as well.
