Jet Edge First to Launch Gogo 5G

Streaming, Voice Chats Soon Available For Private Jet Co. Customers

As the rollout date for their newest 5G, high-speed network nears, Gogo Business Aviation has announced Jet Edge International to be the first customer in service.

Already operating the Avance L5 connectivity system across its fleet of managed aircraft, Jet Edge will soon be the first to upgrade 50 of them to Gogo 5G over a 24-month period.

“Choosing Gogo was an easy decision because of their proven track record of meeting their commitments and delivering the best inflight connectivity in the industry,” said Bill Papariella, CEO of Jet Edge. “After a thorough evaluation of other inflight connectivity services, we chose Gogo 5G – it was the obvious choice and we’re thrilled to offer it to our discerning clients.”

Gogo 5G network deployment has begun throughout the continental U.S., planned to launch in the second half of 2022. The 4th deployment for their company, Gogo advertises their newest network, as true next-gen communications equipment. When active, near-broadband speeds will be possible in flight, even at speeds of hundreds of miles per hour. Improvements in range, signal processing, and beamforming technology have greatly increased the performance aloft when compared to older systems. Designed specifically for high throughput and low latency, Jet Edge customers will be able to use the same data-heavy applications and services they do on the ground. Video calling, streaming, and more are all well within the system's capabilities. Given their current use of the Avance L5, the upgrade will be simplified when compared to traditional networking equipment retrofits and installation.

“We have a long-standing relationship with Jet Edge and by upgrading to Gogo 5G, it shows the commitment Jet Edge is making to its clients to provide the best inflight connectivity and entertainment experience in business aviation,” said Andy Geist, senior vice president of business development for Gogo. “With AVANCE L5 installed across most of its fleet, upgrading to 5G becomes a relatively quick and easy process.”
