EADS-NA Highlights Its Military Mission Capabilities at QUAD-A

EADS North America has a high-profile presence at this year's Army Aviation Association of America (AAAA) annual convention, highlighting the company's broad range of solutions that intended to meet the  requirements of U.S. military and homeland security customers.

The AAAA meeting is being held through May 11 at Orlando, Florida's Coronado Springs Resort Convention Center, and features a large EADS North America exhibit stand (booth #324) with products and services from its various business units. A static display of EADS transport aircraft and helicopters also has been set up at the nearby Kissimmee Airport.

"Our participation at the AAAA convention underscores how EADS North America is committed to contributing to national defense and homeland security, and to expanding our industrial presence and investment in the U.S.," said EADS North America Chairman and CEO Ralph D. Crosby, Jr. "From military airlifters and helicopters to aerial targets and mission systems, EADS North America is dedicated to providing the best value for the U.S. military services and creating new job opportunities for American workers."

The Kissimmee Airport static display showcases the EADS CASA C-295 and CN-235 military airlifters, which are being offered for the U.S. Army's Future Cargo Aircraft (FCA) acquisition. The displayed C-295 (shown below) and CN-235 are currently performing a month-long U.S. tour to demonstrate their capabilities for the FCA mission.

Both the C-295 and its shorter-fuselage CN-235 version are produced by EADS CASA - the industry leader in the light and medium military transport aircraft sector. They offer no-risk, combat-proven solutions for the Army's FCA requirement with aircraft that are in full-scale production for a growing international customer base.

The C-295 and CN-235 (shown below) are joined at Kissimmee Airport by the American Eurocopter EC-145 and EC-135 helicopters, which are candidates for the Army's Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) Mission. These multi-mission rotary-wing aircraft from EADS North America's American Eurocopter business unit have the lowest operating and support costs in their category, and are proven in demanding missions worldwide.

EADS North America's exhibit stand at the AAAA convention center location features displays of EADS aerial targets for threat simulation and air defense training. This product line includes the DO-DT 25 target drone for simulation of missile and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) threats, as well as the DO-DT 35 high-speed target system for advanced air defense training.

Among the mission systems displayed on the EADS North America AAAA exhibit are the HELLAS obstacle avoidance and cable warning system for helicopters, the MiSAR miniature all-weather synthetic aperature radar for helicopters and tactical unmanned aerial vehicles, and the Mini-FLITS (minimized front-line integrated test system) from Racal Instruments, a Test and Services business unit of EADS North America Defense.
