Piper M700 Fury Earns UK Type Certification

Civil Aviation Authority Approval Includes Flight Into Known Icing

On December 17, Piper Aircraft announced that its M700 Fury has been awarded type certification from the United Kingdom’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). The aircraft is Piper’s latest and greatest design featuring impressive performance and modern avionics.

The recent UK CAA type certification also included approval for Flight into Known Icing (FIKI). This same green light was given by the US Federal Aviation Administration on May 28, 2024.

“We are proud to achieve UK CAA certification for the M700 FURY,” expressed Ron Gunnarson, Piper’s VP of Sales, Marketing, and Customer Support. “This milestone reinforces Piper’s dedication to meeting the needs of global markets with innovative and capable aircraft like the FURY.”

The M700 FURY is Piper’s fastest single-engine aircraft yet. It is powered by a 700 hp Pratt & Whitney PT6A-52, generating a maximum cruise speed of 301 knots and up to 1,424 nautical miles of non-stop flight.

The six-seat machine, introduced as part of Piper’s M-Class, was designed with several safety and efficiency features. Its chief component is the HALO Safety System with Garmin Emergency Autoland, which is capable of landing the aircraft at the nearest suitable airport if the pilot becomes incapacitated. The Fury’s Garmin-based avionics suite also includes Autothrottle, Emergency Descent Mode, Electronic Stability Protection, SurfaceWatch, SafeTaxi, and PlaneSync.

“The UK CAA certification of the M700 FURY is fantastic news for our market,” stated Alex Brown, Commercial Director of British European Aviation Group. “We will soon be announcing dates for a 2025 sales tour across the UK, Ireland, Channel Islands, Spain, and Portugal, so feel free to reach out if you want us to do a demo at your local airfield.”

Receiving the UK CAA’s nod of approval was the last stop on Piper’s committed list, promised to customers in early 2024. The manufacturer is now working towards additional certifications, starting with Mexico, Columbia, and several Asian nations.

Piper’s M-Class also includes the M500 and M350. The advanced line of aircraft is geared towards both business and personal aviation customers.
