Texas State Senator Bob Deuell Receives Bell Helicopter Award

Local Legislator Presented With The 2014 Bell Helicopter Legislative Leadership Award

Bell Helicopter on Friday recognized Texas State Senator Bob Deuell with the Bell Helicopter Legislative Leadership Award. The award honors elected officials who have been avid supporters of the aerospace and defense industries and who have fostered an environment of economic growth in Texas and across the nation.

“Sen. Deuell recognizes that the aerospace industry is a vital part of not only the Texas economy, but the U.S. industrial base and our nation’s long-term economic and national security,” said Brian Chase, Director of Public Affairs at Bell Helicopter. “We appreciate Sen. Deuell’s support of HB 800 and HB 3121 and his commitment to growing jobs and maintaining businesses like Bell Helicopter.”

Sen. Deuell helped pass HB 800 during the 83rd Texas Legislative Session, which reinstated a state research and development tax credit and created a research and development sales tax exemption in the state. He also supported HB 3121 which modified the current Freeport Tax exemption in Texas law and provides constitutional relief for advanced manufacturing facilities, like Bell Helicopter, who hold inventory stored in the state.

The award was presented in Deuell's district on Friday, February 21, 2014.
