Longtime Member Of EAA Flew In Space 4 Times, Twice To Moon
Jack J.Pelton, CEO and Chairman of the Board of the Experimental Aircraft Association, released the statement below on the August 7 passing of Gemini and Apollo astronaut and longtime EAA member James Lovell:
The long-awaited MOSAIC regulation finally published in the Federal Register, lets look at what it means and how it affects you... Spirit Engineering blew the hangar doors off Oshkosh with its SE-1. The single-seat SE-1 was deliberately kept off the radar until it arrived in Oshkosh, where four aircraft made the cross-country trip from Grand Junction, Colorado… and burned just 88 gallons of gas between them. Spirit Engineering made the aircraft basic in all the right ways. Vertical Aviation Technologies has reintroduced its Five-Stage Purchasing Pro
After a flight that was supposed to last days turned into one that lasted months, Butch Wilmore has retired -- following a total of 25 years at NASA, flying in four different spacecraft, and accumulating 464 days in space. During his time at NASA, Wilmore completed three missions launching aboard the space shuttle Atlantis, Roscosmos Soyuz, and Boeing Starliner to the International Space Station. The U-2 Dragon Lady was on display all week at AirVenture. It was a homecoming of sorts for the aircraft but even more so for its pilot. Lt. Col. GOGO, is a veter

Pivotal, a developer of personal eVTOL aircraft, recently put on a series of public safety demos for several fire agencies in California to showcase the potential of its single-seat aircraft to drastically improve emergency response capabilities, particularly in locations where terrain, time, or traffic could be the difference between life and death.

In early July of this year, H55’s Bristell B23 Energic, during its Across America Tour, made a several-day stop at Centennial Airport (KAPA) outside of Denver, Colorado, where it flew the same flight path as a comparable-sized piston engine aircraft across the airport’s six official noise-monitoring stations. The hot-off-the-press results show that the B23’s noise profile was below ambient sound – undetectable – by 3 of the 6 sensors... The EAA announced that next year’s AirVenture, the “World

Work on the SportPlane Resource Guide is going well… Albeit a little bit behind schedule, because as we got into this process, things became a bit more complicated simply because we learned we could do an even better job at certain aspects of this project than we thought from the beginning. They say that the enemy of true quality is the phrase "good enough" and we want to be far more than “good enough.”

From 2024 (YouTube Edition): Hosts Smoke Demonstrator at 2024 NBAA-BACE Display
For nearly 30 years, the Emergency Vision Assurance System (EVAS) has been working to raise awareness on one of aviation’s most hazardous, yet least discussed issues: blinding smoke events in the cockpit. As a part of its continued effort to show the significance of EVAS, the company hosted a smoke demonstrator at its 2024 NBAA-BACE exhibit. FAA reports show that in-flight fires are a frequent cause of unscheduled and emergency landings. While it is a common belief that putting on the provided oxygen mask and goggles will be enough to get on

Emphasis On Growing The Future of Aviation Through Concentration on 'AFFORDABLE FLYERS'
It's been a number of years since the Latest Edition of Jim Campbell's HUGE SportPlane Resource Guide first saw the light of day. That massive 1100 page book last featured over 800 exciting sport aircraft from all over the SportPlane universe... at a time when the SportPlane industry was still a healthy, thriving enterprise (those were the days...). While there has been some consideration, off and on, toward updating the nearly 5 pound book, the near implosion of the SportPlane and kit industry over the last decade has made such a pursuit an unwieldy one... until now.
It’s been a while since we have reminded everyone about all the ways we offer your daily dose of aviation news on-the-go...so here is a full list of ways you can subscribe to our channels and get notifications when there are new episodes or breaking news!

Nonapproach Control Tower
Authorizes aircraft to land or takeoff at the airport controlled by the tower or to transit the Class D airspace. The primary function of a nonapproach control tower is the sequencing of aircraft in the traffic pattern and on the landing area. Nonapproach control towers also separate aircraft operating under instrument flight rules clearances from approach controls and centers. They provide ground control services to aircraft, vehicles, personnel, and equipment on the airport movement area.
The goal of the Airborne Partnership Initiative is to grow this program to include a significant portion, if not a majority, of the aviation world’s pivotal organizations, interests, and viewpoints.
“We at EAA had a close connection to him for decades, as he first met EAA founder Paul Poberezny in their mutual hometown of Milwaukee. Jim was a regular visitor to Oshkosh for the EAA fly-in convention for many years and graciously retold his experiences as a Naval Aviator and an astronaut to our audiences on numerous occasions. We express our condolences to Jim’s family and many friends, and say, Godspeed and thank you.”
