Enhances Safety, Efficiency Of Firefighting And Rescue Missions
Vita Inclinata, based in Broomfield, Colorado, announced that it deployed 16 of its Vita Rescue System (VRS) units to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) for its Firehawk fleet to improve the agency’s safety and efficiency in aerial firefighting and rescue missions.
The VRS is a state-of-the-art precision-controlled lift mechanism designed to eliminate spinning, swinging, and oscillations during hoist operations. It is equipped with high-torque, bidirectional electric propulsion systems as well as a thrust vectoring system that enables the VRS to collect more than 1,000 data points per second to autonomously stabilize loads in dynamic and challenging environments.
The VRS will provide CAL FIRE’s aerial operations the ability to reduce the challenges posed by rotor downwash, variable winds, and difficult terrain while improving operational control and better safety for both rescuers and civilians.

In September 2024, Vita Inclinata announced the fleetwide deployment of its VRS by the U.S. Air Force Reserve and the U.S. Air National Guard after completing the AFWERX testing and advancing to its Technology Readiness Level 8. AFWERX is the Department of the Air Force’s innovation section that brings cutting-edge technology from small businesses and startup companies to bear on its numerous challenges while supporting innovation and development of new technologies.
