Selfie Grounds JAL Pilot

Has Been Suspended From His Job Over Photograph With An FA

A pilot for Japan Airlines (JAL) has been suspended after posting a selfie of himself and a flight attendant taken in the cockpit of an airliner during flight.

The New York Daily News reports that JAL said the pilot, who was not identified, violated flight regulations that require pilots to "remain vigilant in the cockpit."

The flight was reportedly en route to Osaka from northern Japan when the pilot invited the FA into the cockpit while the other crewmember was taking a lavatory break. He snapped the selfie during that time.

Airlines have stepped up emphasis on cockpit security since the co-pilot of a Germanwings flight apparently intentionally locked the pilot out of the cockpit while he was taking a lavatory break and intentionally flew the airplane into terrain, fatally injuring all 150 people on board.
