Wanna Buy A Concorde?

OK, How About Parts Of One?

How much for an afterburner? Airbus plans to auction off around 1,000 components used on the once-proud Concorde supersonic airliner fleet, according to Reuters.

Most of the items in the September auction will be replacement parts stocked in EADS warehouses since the plane stopped flying in 2003, according to Airbus spokeswoman Caroline Brown.

"This sale will take place over three days with proceeds going to Aerotheque, a Toulouse aviation heritage association," Brown added.

The auction will take place in an old grains auction hall in Toulouse, where Airbus is based. Dates were not announced.

This would be the third auction of Concorde items since the planes stopped flying. A 2003 auction held by Christie's attracted significant attention in the aviation community, with such offerings as an original nose fairing.
