Canadian Helo Makes A Burger Stop

Pilot Landed On A Baseball Diamond And Walked To The A&W

The pilot of a Canadian CH-146 Griffon helicopter made a quick stop for lunch Thursday, touching down on a baseball diamond in Kenora, Ontario (that was obviously not in use at the time) and walking to a nearby A&W restaurant for hamburgers for himself and his crew, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation reports.

Server Stacey Hawes told CBC News "He ordered four papa burgers with cheese combos and two papa burgers on the side."

Neighbors were surprised, but did not appear to be upset about the lunch stop. Laura Madison, who lives nearby, said she couldn't believe her eyes when she saw the helo landing in the neighborhood. "It's a huge double-door … helicopter, which you don't see landing in the middle of town every day. He went in and got some A&W takeout and took off."

Honestly, it would have been difficult to hover at the drive-thru. Reading the comments on the site, it appears the majority of Canadians seem to think that military helicopter crews deserve a lunch break just like everyone else.
