Terrafugia tells ANN that it has reached a significant milestone by obtaining an FAA Special Light-Sport Aircraft (LSA) airworthiness certificate for its Transition roadable aircraft.

As a unique integration of a two-seat aircraft and an automobile, the Transition is designed to meet safety standards from both the FAA and the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The vehicle that received the certificate is legal for flight and represents the initial version of the Transition roadable aircraft. Terrafugia will produce and sell additional initial (flight-only) versions to interested parties and will evolve the driving portion of the Transition design, with the goal of being legal both in the sky and on local roads in 2022. Axiom Space has announced its crew for the first flight of a group of private individuals to a Low Earth Orbit destination – the first-ever entirely private mission proposed to fly to the ISS. The proposed Axiom Mission 1 (Ax-1) will consist of: former NASA astronaut and Axiom vice president Michael López-Alegría as commander; American entrepreneur and non-profit activist investor Larry Connor as pilot; Canadian investor
and philanthropist Mark Pathy; and impact investor and philanthropist Eytan Stibbe of Israel. Honda Aircraft has received Russian type certification from the Federal Air Transport Agency (FATA). This demonstrates that the aircraft meets the safety standards set by the organization. The first HondaJet with Russian registration began its operation in the region immediately after receiving the certification. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
