Air France Sued By Limbless Woman

Says gate agent told her, "A torso can't possibly fly on its own"

Adele Price wanted to go to Manhattan. So, four years ago, the 42-year old woman from Manchester, England, bought her ticket and went to the airport. But when she tried to board the aircraft, she says an Air France gate agent told her, "a head, one bottom and a torso cannot possibly fly on its own."

Price has no arms or legs. She's now suing Air France for unspecified damages in Manhattan Federal Court.

The British woman said she was finally allowed to fly, but only after finding a friend who would fly with her. Still, she had to pay for her friend's ticket and accomodations while in New York.

Then there was the return flight. According to Price, Air France initially told her she had to have opinions from at least four doctors saying she was fit to fly alone before they let her on the plane at JFK.

Air France refused comment on the court case, possibly due to an impending nomination for the Plain English Campaign "Foot in Mouth" Award.
