Aero-TV: Fly-Inn - The ‘Aero’-BnB for Aviation Lodging

Site Allows Pilots to Find Short-Term, Airplane-Friendly Stays in Unique Locations

When Airbnb collides with general aviation, you get Fly-Inn: a website that allows pilots to rent airplane-friendly lodging. Founded just two years ago, the platform has gone from a small Facebook group to a soon-to-be app with more than 120 listings and hundreds more in the queue.

“Not only do you get the accommodations, you get a runway, hangar, or tie downs, and the most important piece of the puzzle is ground transportation,” said Carollyne Carmichel, Founder and President of Fly-Inn. “All the guesswork is taken out of it.”

The all-inclusive rental style requires every listing to have a private strip, helipad, or be within ten minutes of an airport. Hosts must spell out how guests will get around, with some providing loaner cars, others arranging rentals, and a few simply handing you the keys to their personal vehicle.

The properties themselves are just as unique, ranging from a so-called “Woo Hoo Wagon” in Montana to a luxury yacht off the coast. Carmichel has personally visited more than 60 percent of the listings and says that “there is not one property that is subpar in any way. They are just beautiful.”

Aero-TV is a production of the Internationally syndicated Aero-News Network. Seen worldwide by hundreds of thousands of aviators and aviation adherents, ANN's Aero-TV has produced well over 5000 aviation and feature programs, including over 2500 episodes of our daily aviation news program, AIRBORNE UNLIMITED, currently hosted by Holland Lee. Now in its third decade of operation, parent company Aero-News Network, has the most aggressive and intensive editorial profile of any aviation news organization and has published well over a half-million news and feature stories since its inception -- having pioneered the online 24/7 aviation new-media model that so many have emulated.
