AMA Drone Report 06.22.17: FAA Reauthorization, Rotor Riot Int'l, DRL on ESPN

Also: Drones at Oshkosh!, Drone Regulatory Effort, AMA Drone Report-Help Wanted, Aero-TV: MultiGP Drone Racing

The House of Representatives has published initial language to reauthorize funding for the FAA.

A move to privatize the ATC system is causing widespread concern among aviation groups and pilots nationwide. Our friend, Jonathan Rupprecht has furnished a few observations of interest to the drone community. The new language ‘upholds the protections of Section 336 regarding model aircraft flyers but DOES allow the FAA to create a registration system for model aircraft.’ The two largest names in the FPV culture are joining forces! MultiGP and Rotor Riot are combining forces to make sure the 2017 International Open is an event that gets chiseled in FPV history. MultiGP says this inaugural Rotor Riot themed version of the MultiGP International Open is your best opportunity to catch all the pilots you follow in a fun and social setting. ESPN has released its schedule for broadcasting the Drone Racing League events on ESPN, ESPN2, and as a live stream on the ESPN app -- and based on the episode we saw last night, they’re off to a GREAT start. The telecasts began this week but will extend throughout July. The races take place in Miami, Atlanta, New Orleans, Boston and Munich before culminating July 28th with the Drone Racing League Championship in London. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of the AMA Drone Report!!!
