AMA Drone Report 07.19.18: World Record Drone Show, Model Av Day, Journo Trouble

Also: ANN Oshkosh Schedule, Women In Drones, Drones Replacing Satellites?, National FAA Drone Advisory

In celebration of Intel’s 50th anniversary, the company flew 2,018 Intel® Shooting Star™ drones over its Folsom, California, facility, setting a new Guinness World Records™ title for the most unmanned aerial vehicles airborne simultaneously.

“Several years ago, we had an idea of flying drones forming the Intel logo over our corporate headquarters, and here we are doing just that. It really speaks to the innovative spirit that Intel was founded on 50 years ago,” reported Anil Nanduri, vice president and general manager, Intel Drone Group. In and amongst all the politics, the good news and the bad,... we need to remember and even celebrate that Model Aviation is not only a great pastime, but has had a pivotal effect on the aviation and aerospace worlds -- and it deserves YOUR support. Planning for this year's National Model Aviation Day celebration has begun. The AMA has encouraged its approximately 2,400 chartered clubs to hold events or fundraisers in their communities on August 11, 2018 to share the fun of model flying in celebration of National Model Aviation Day. A journalist attempting to capture images above the Tham Laung cave system during the rescue of the soccer team that had been trapped for nearly two weeks was detained by authorities for flying a drone too close to a helicopter in the area. The incident occurred last week, according to media reports. The drone was being used to give a media team better access to the cave entrance where the team was emerging and being placed into ambulances. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of the AMA Drone Report!!!
