Aero-TV: More Good News For GA -- AEA’s Paula Derks Analyzes 2Q/14 Sales Data

Avionics Industry Leads The Way As GA Ekes Out A Slow Recovery

In this video, ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief Jim Campbell, turns to an expert to find out about the health of the aviation avionics business.

Jim points out that aviation in general is having a rough time but the avionics business appears to be getting better. He asks Paula Derks, the President of the Aircraft Electronics Association (AEA), to give us a briefing on how things are going.

Derks tells us that the Derks tells us that the 2nd quarter report on the health of the avionics market says business is up by 2.7 percent. She adds that total worldwide sales are about $1.3 billion up to this point and concurs with Jim that things are looking pretty good. When Campbell asked for her opinions on what is driving the increase in sales, she explained that ADS-B requirements do fit into the picture but manufacturers and avionics businesses are telling her that business is simply better.

As the interview continues Derks goes on to point to other areas in the avionics industry that are improving. This video provides a good summary, which is easy to understand, regarding the driving forces behind the increase in avionics sales.
