Blue Origin’s NS-31 Completes 11th Human Spaceflight Mission

All-Female Crew Of 6 Makes Total 58 Taken To Space

Blue Origin’s New Shepard booster rocket successfully completed its 31st mission to space, lifting a crew of six female space tourists on a suborbital flight that was its 11th human spaceflight. The program has so far taken a total of 58 people on the brief flight above the Karman Line that many consider the edge of space.

The crew included Aisha Bowe, Amanda Nguyen, Gayle King, Katy Perry, Kerianne Flynn, and Lauren Sanchez. who was the primary driver of getting the women together for the historic flight that was the first all-female crew since Valentina Tereshkova’s solo flight in 1963.

Sanchez is a certificated helicopter pilot and founder of Black Ops Aviation, a female-owned and operated aerial film and production company.

Phil Joyce, Senior Vice President of New Shepard said, “What a privilege to witness this crew of trailblazers depart the capsule today. Each of these women is a storyteller who will use their voices—individually and together—to channel their life-changing experience today into creating lasting impact that will inspire people across our planet for generations. Thank you to this remarkable crew for uplifting so many on their historic journey toward the stars and back.”

The flight lifted off from Launch Site One, located on the Corn Ranch in West Texas, at 8:30 am CDT (09:30 am EDT or 13:30 UTC).
