Regional Carrier World's Largest E-Jet Operator
Embraer announces that Republic Airlines, a subsidiary of
Republic Airways Holdings, has increased its orders for the Embraer
175 by 13 firm orders, totaling $403 million, at list price, based
on January 2007 economic conditions. Eight aircraft of this order
were already included in Embraer's first quarter backlog as
"Undisclosed," and the other five refer to options confirmed during
the second quarter.
As of today, Republic is operating 76 Embraer 170 and 11 Embraer
175 jets, and the company's firm order backlog totals 32
E-Jets.
"We are honored to continue sharing Republic Airlines' success,"
said Mauro Kern, Embraer Executive Vice President, Airline Market.
"Republic operates both the Embraer 170 and Embraer 175. This
follow-on order of 13 Embraer 175 jets is an important validation
of our strategy of providing airlines with the flexibility they
need to match the right aircraft size to different market
demands."
Embraer's long and prolific relationship with Republic goes back
to 1998, when Chautauqua Airlines, also a member of Republic
Airways Holdings, purchased ten 50-seat ERJ 145 jets. Later, the
airline became an operator of the entire ERJ 145 family by ordering
the ERJ 135 and the ERJ 140 jets. Currently, the Embraer fleet
flying with Republic Airways totals an impressive 182 jets.
"As the largest operator of E-Jets around the world, we are very
pleased to expand our fleet of Embraer 175 jets with the addition
of these 13 new aircraft," said Bryan Bedford, Chairman, President
and CEO of Republic Airways Holdings. "Our company continues its
long-standing tradition of delivering safe, reliable and cost
effective service to our customers and airline partners. The
Embraer E-Jets family has set a high standard for airline service
in North America. Passengers love this aircraft for its spacious
interior design and, in particular, for the absence of a middle
seat."
