Hey, Mayor Daley, Are You Listening?

Things Haven't Been Great in 'The City That Works' Since Midnight Attack on Meigs Field

It's been a while since Mayor Daley committed the ultimate act of airport vandalism by destroying Meigs Field in the middle of the night, and we thought you'd be interested in the reactions we've been getting from you.

Not only are the vast majority of the responses indicating that Chicago won't be on anybody's list of business or vacation destinations, we've also gotten a lot of mail, saying things like, "I'm on the board of [XYZ Corporation], and we decided not to hold our convention/annual meeting in Chicago this year. I'm proud to say I helped make that decision, and I did it because of the Mayor's action at Meigs Field."

Daley apparently thought he'd be ruining things for only a handful of pilots; he didn't reckon on the power of the aviation community, and the influence we have -- and not just on our personal plans.

Every time you get the chance, make sure the Mayor and the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce know that you made your decision, because of the mayor's action. Be nice, but be specific. And don't let up.
