Embraer Sets Up for $70 Million MRO Upgrade

New Fort Worth Facilities Support E-Jet Customers

Embraer revealed on October 15 that it will be dropping $70 million to construct and expand maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facilities. The services will be offered for commercial jet customers at Perot Field Alliance Airport (AFW) in Fort Worth, Texas.

Operations will begin at an existing AFW hangar in the second quarter of 2025. Embraer expects to wrap up construction and start transitioning to the new facility by 2027.

The new MRO facilities, Embraer reports, should increase the manufacturer’s service capacity by up to 53%. It is also expected to offer around 250 new skilled aviation jobs.

“We're excited to welcome Embraer to Fort Worth, and more specifically, to the Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport,” commented Robert Sturns, Director of Economic Development for the City of Fort Worth. “As one of the largest producers of civil aircraft in the world, Embraer's new maintenance facility and 250 jobs will be an outstanding addition to our city, building upon the success of Fort Worth's well-established foundations in aerospace and aviation.”

The Fort Worth MRO will join Embraer’s established network, including twelve service centers  and 80 total authorized facilities. This year alone, the manufacturer has doubled its U.S. MRO capacity by adding locations in Dallas, Texas, Cleveland, Ohio, and Sanford, Florida.

Embraer’s pricey investment has granted it a seven-year tax abatement. This applies to up to half of its incremental property value, estimated to be around $1.2 million.

Also on October 15, Fort Worth commissioners approved a second deal with Atlanta-based Americold. The company will be investing approximately $123 million to grow its current storage facility, located near Fort Worth’s Meacham International Airport. Considering both of these projects, Fort Worth is set to bring in around $3.7 million in new taxes.

“We have a long-standing relationship with the State of Texas and look forward to our partnership with Hillwood at Alliance, and the opening of this new service center will create hundreds of highly skilled jobs in a vital segment for the aviation industry,” stated Carlos Naufel, president and CEO of Embraer Services & Support.
