Museum Fundraiser Will Go To The Swift!

$100 Donation Gets One-In-995 Chance At Speedy Bird

The Swift Museum Foundation's 2007 fund raising program is probably raising an eye or two with the raffling of a two-seat retractable tail-dragger Swift. With a $100 donation comes a chance to win your very own GC-1B Swift aircraft.

The tax deductible donation to the "Swift Museum Foundation" will enter you into the drawing, slated for September 22, 2007. Only 995 tickets will be sold, and additional cash prizes are also part of the program.

The Swift Museum Foundation, Athens, TN, is dedicated to the preservation and restoration of the Globe/Temco Swift and any related items pertaining to its history. The Swift Museum Foundation also hosts the National Swift Fly-In.

This year's Fly-In, held at McMinn County Airport in Athens, is May 22-27, 2007. The event draws close to 100 Swifts of all levels, from original to super custom. The Fly-In includes educational forums, fly-outs to nearby attractions, and a Saturday evening awards banquet.

The Swift's story harkens back to the rise and fall of John Kennedy's (Fort Worth, TX) Globe Aircraft Corp., the post-war creation of Bob McCulloch's Texas Engineering and Manufacturing Co. (Temco), the Univair years, and the creation by Charles E. Nelson of the International Swift Association, the world's premier Type Club.
