Psychic's 'Vision' Helps Ground AAL Flight

TSA: "You Can't Be Too Careful These Days"

Check the date. No, it's not April 1st yet. But given what follows, it sure could be.

A psychic's warning to the TSA office in Fort Myers (FL) Friday forced American Airlines to ground a DFW-bound flight. Nothing unusual was found on board Flight 1304 in a search conducted before the 128 passengers had a chance to board.

But the initial delay, coupled with the time it took to conduct the search, forced American to cancel the flight. The crew had simply timed out and, according to regulations, wasn't allowed to fly.

Fort Myers TSA director Doug Perkins admitted the psychic's call was a bit "unusual." But, he said, "...In these times, we can’t ignore anything. We want to take the appropriate measures."

Paul Moss, who was vacationing in southwestern Florida from his home in Minnesota, told the Fort Myers News-Press, uniformed and plain-clothed agents showed up at the gate about a half-hour before Friday's 12:46 pm scheduled departure.

"Nobody would tell us what was the problem, only that they had a problem with (the steward)."

About 25-percent of the passengers scheduled for Flight 1304 made flights later Friday. The rest were overnighted in Fort Myers and departed Saturday morning.
