Universal Avionics Extends Connected FMS Offering

UA-APG Partnership Adds Performance Package

Universal Avionics (UA), by dint of a newly-announced partnership with Aircraft Performance Group (APG), has introduced Performance Package capabilities for FlightPartner Connected Avionics.

The new package fully-integrates with the Connected FMS’s extant workflows and relies on APG’s performance for take-off and engine-out calculations, obstacle analysis, landing factors, and more. APG’s engine allows for accurate weight-and-balance calculations—by which aircraft fuel-consumption may be reduced, aircraft ground-handling enhanced, and the overall efficiency of flight operations improved.

By virtue of its collaboration with APG, Universal aims to deliver the highest-possible levels of accuracy and reliability in support of business jet operators’ flight performance planning.

APG president Shawn Mechelke stated: “We are honored to be trusted by Universal Avionics to support their FMS connectivity by including APG’s industry-leading aircraft performance solutions as part of their service offering. We look forward to growing our partnership and developing integrated avionics solutions.”

Universal Avionics CEO Dror Yahav set forth: "We're thrilled to partner with APG, who has established expertise in serving the business jet market. With a focus on safety and efficiency for customers, this Connectivity Ecosystem Partnership brings aircraft performance support for our FMS users to a new level”.

Users of Universal Avionics’s FlightPartner Connected Avionics App will henceforth have access to the described optional performance package, which is available for most combinations of aircraft and engine types. Subject package enables pilots to establish accurate weight-and-balance, take-off and landing performance within the context of flight planning conditions, ensure Landing Distance at Time of Arrival (LDTA) compliance, and support alternate and emergency/Engine Out (EO) return calculations, to include shortened runway situations. The aforementioned then feeds the Connected SBAS FMS the associated results in just a few clicks.

Ubiquitous throughout the aerospace industry, Universal Avionics (UA), is a Tucson, Arizona-based technology concern with primary foci in flight management systems (FMS) and cockpit instrument displays for private, business, and commercial aircraft. In addition to its Arizona headquarters, the company maintains domestic offices in Kansas, Washington State, and Georgia; and overseas offices in Switzerland.
