Camera Call: Witness Iconic Boeing 747’s Trip Through Las Vegas

New Home As Event Venue At Area15 District

The newest entertainment district in Las Vegas, AREA 15, announced that cockpit section of the decommissioned Boeing 747 featured at the 2017 “Burning Man” festival is being moved on a flatbed trailer from its storage site to AREA15 and will be repurposed into a nightlife and event venue. The route has been made public and represents an opportunity to capture photos of the move.

The transport is being billed as a spectacle, with the flatbed being followed by a caravan with Henry Chang’s Mr. Fusion art car, along with a repurposed fire truck art car with AREA15 ambassadors in costume.

Transport of the aircraft’s large cockpit section of the fuselage will begin at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the early morning of Wednesday February 26 at 7 a.m. for loading, and then departure at 8 a.m. The section to be loaded is fairly sizable: 23 feet wide, 72 feet long, and a little over 16 feet tall.

WHERE: Las Vegas Motor Speedway Maintenance, 7300 Las Vegas Blvd North, Las Vegas. This is on the northeast side of the city and north of Nellis AFB.

The route from the Las Vegas Speedway will be:

  • Las Vegas Boulevard to Cheyenne Avenue
  • Right on Cheyenne Avenue
  • Left on Rancho Drive
  • Right on Decatur Boulevard
  • Left on Sahara Avenue
  • Right on Valley View Boulevard
  • Left on Meade Avenue to the expanded AREA15 District
  • The arrival point will be at the corner of Rancho Drive and W Sirius Ave.

The AREA15 District has been expanded and now encompasses 20 acres with immersive entertainment experiences, bars, restaurants, shows, and more. It is located near the northern end of the Strip approximately 30 minutes from Harry Reid Int’l Airport (KLAS).
