Vince Neil’s Lear Involved in Fatal Arizona Accident

Learjet Veers Off Runway and Into Another Aircraft, Killing One

A private jet owned by Vince Neil, lead singer of Mötley Crüe, veered off the Scottsdale Airport (SDL) runway and collided with another aircraft. The incident killed one and left four others injured.

The jet involved is a Learjet 35A registered to Chromed in Hollywood, which lists Neil as its director. It was headed from Austin, Texas to Scottsdale, Arizona on February 10. At around 2:45 pm, the aircraft landed and swerved off the runway. It came to a stop after crashing into a Gulfstream 200 parked on the ramp. Authorities confirmed one fatality.

Scottsdale Fire Capt. Dave Folio reported that one person was trapped inside the wreckage but was rescued and transported to a trauma center in critical condition. Another individual was also listed as critical, while a third had non-life-threatening injuries. A fifth person declined medical treatment.

"On board, Mr. Neil's plane were two pilots and two passengers. Mr. Neil was not on the plane," read a statement from Neil’s lawyer. "Mr. Neil's thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved, and he is grateful for the critical aid of all the first responders assisting today."

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash, though early reports indicate that the Learjet’s landing gear may have been a factor. Authorities noted that the gear failed to deploy, leading to the loss of control upon landing.

The Scottsdale Airport runway remains closed indefinitely as investigators work to piece together what led to the accident. Scottsdale officials have promised to update the community as more information becomes available.

"On behalf of the city of Scottsdale, we offer our deepest condolences to those involved in the accident and for those who have been taken to our trauma center for treatment,” expressed Scottsdale Mayor Lisa Borowsky. “We will keep all affected by this tragedy in our prayers. I would also like to thank our first responder community for their quick action and service in this situation."
