Navy Confirms Suspension Of Blue Angels Team Member

Removed Person Does Not Appear To Be A 'Numbered' Pilot

A team member of the Blue Angels has been suspended though the Navy is not saying who or why.

The Navy Times reports that Lt. Michelle Tucker, a spokeswoman for the Chief of Naval Training, said the action stems from unspecified allegations of misconduct brought to the Navy's attention in January.

“Allegations of misconduct are taken very seriously by the Navy but it would be inappropriate at this time to comment on an ongoing investigation,” Tucker said.

Tucker would not confirm whether the person who has been suspended is a pilot or support personnel, but it does not appear to be one of the "numbered" pilots, according to The Navy Times.

Tucker said that U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron commanders have stopped the person's activities with the team while it continues to conduct winter training at Naval Air Facility El Centro.
