It's a Bird! It's a Plane!

...and It's Not a Composite Shot

ANN Contributor Tom Griffith doesn't limit himself to "only" warbirds; he watches birds of all descriptions.

One day not long ago, he was hanging out with his camera near his Texas home base, and taking pictures of landings, when this bird, no doubt full of whatever birds get that's like machismo, apparently decided to show who's boss.

Here's how Tom Tells it:

"This is a photo that I took of an Arrow-II that's apparently racing a God-made flying machine. I was busy panning along with the Piper as the young lady pilot landed her bird (I kinda changed the tail number to protect the innocent) at Northwest Regional Airport (52F) by Roanoke, TX (this is some kinda little airport!) and a local airport bird just happened to be flying between me and her at the time."

[We still think he spent months training that bird --ed.]
