AD: Aircraft Industries a.s. Airplanes

AD NUMBER: 2018-11-04

PRODUCT: Aircraft Industries a.s. Models L 410 UVP-E20 and L 410 UVP-E20 CARGO airplanes.

ACTION: Final rule; request for comments.

SUMMARY: This AD results from mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) issued by the aviation authority of another country to identify and correct an unsafe condition on an aviation product.

The MCAI describes the unsafe condition as uncommanded negative thrust mode activated on an engine.

DATES: This AD is effective June 27, 2018. Comments must be received by July 23, 2018.

COST: The FAA estimates that this AD will affect no products of U.S. registry. The agency estimates that it would take about 9 work-hours per product to comply with the basic requirements of this AD. The average labor rate is $85 per work-hour. Required parts would cost about $2,000 per product.

Based on these figures, the estimated cost of the AD on U.S. operators to be $0 fleet cost, but $2,765 per product if a product is registered on the U.S. registry.

According to the manufacturer, some of the costs of this AD may be covered under warranty, thereby reducing the cost impact on affected individuals.
