MAXjet Airways Enters Final Stage of FAA Certification

MAXjet Airways, Inc. ("MAXjet") has begun the final phase of FAA's certification process that leads to issuance of an Air Carrier Operating Certificate. Proving runs began on July 22. After a series of flights to London-Stansted Airport and to selected domestic destinations, MAXjet will complete all the requirements for FAA certification.

MAXjet plans to begin commercial operations upon completing FAA certification and the issuance of an effective DOT certificate. Charter operations will commence immediately. Scheduled passenger service will begin later this year with flights initially planned between New York's John F. Kennedy Airport and London's Stansted Airport.

Gary Rogliano, Chief Executive Officer of the MAXjet commented, "Completing certification is a significant accomplishment. MAXjet will be the first international scheduled passenger carrier certificated since September 11, 2001. I want to congratulate all of our employees for this accomplishment and completing this major first step in launching a successful airline. In addition, I want to thank Nick Scarpinato, Jr., FAA Manager of the Washington Flight Standards District Office, and all the FAA staff for their professionalism and guidance in this thorough and rigorous certification process. We are all very excited about the launch of the airline."

MAXjet has assembled an experienced management team, sourced widebody aircraft, and trained its flight and cabin crews. MAXjet has pursued DOT approval in parallel with the FAA certification, earning its Final Order from the DOT in March 2005. DOT has granted provisional approval for MAXjet to operate to over fifteen international countries.
MAXjet is based at Washington Dulles Airport with operational facilities at both New York's JFK Airport and London's Stansted Airport. MAXjet Airways will operate both charter and scheduled service initially using Boeing 767 aircraft.

The airline plans to announce routes, fares and schedules after final government approvals are received (expected in the next few weeks), at which time passenger bookings will begin. Founded in 2003, MAXjet was formerly known as SkyLink Airways and unveiled its new name in April 2005.
