McFarlane Granted FAA-PMA for Cessna Door Springs

New Springs Compatible with 182, 206, 210, and 337 Models

McFarlane Aviation has been granted FAA- Parts Manufacture Approval (PMA) for the production of replacement door springs for the majority of Cessna’s 182 Skylane, 206 Stationair, 210 Centurion, and 337 Skymaster models. Subject door springs function by applying pressure to the cabin door stop arm, resulting in solid, smooth, and controlled opening and closing.

The OEM-installed springs have a history of premature failures. McFarlane’s new door springs are available as kits, or as individual part numbers.

The McFarlane-designed door springs feature improved temper, better lubrication, and added corrosion resistance. Additionally, a stress-relief fitting is added under the new design’s attachment screw for purpose of preventing stress concentration and premature failures. McFarlane’s engineering team worked diligently to analyze the OEM springs and identify the problems inherent thereto. The team’s findings informed the design and manufacture of the new door springs, ensuring the latter deliver superior robustness and longer service-life.

McFarlane lead project engineer Valerie Yancey-Jardon stated: “Our design also implements an additional material for stronger reinforcement, which helps combat the fracture within the bend.”

Founded in 1971, Baldwin City, Kansas-based McFarlane Aviation is a diversified manufacturing company specializing in the production of affordable, high-quality FAA-PMA (Parts Manufacture Approval) components. McFarlane’s catalog comprises parts for general aviation, commercial, experimental, homebuilt, and Light-Sport Aircraft (LSA) models. Each individual product is meticulously engineered, ensuring exceptional quality and extended lifespan. McFarlane is the owner of a diverse family of brands, including CJ Aviation, Flight-Resource/MT Props, and Airforms.
