Walking the floor of the International Council Of Airshows convention is fun stuff... amazing people, amazing planes, amazing shows... But one of the most amazing stories of all has been a bit of a secret... until now.

Long-Time airshow veteran, Bud Granley, of Bellevue, WA, is about to start his 60th airshow season. A record that may be unequaled (as far as we know) started nearly 6 decades ago as Bud undertook a military career before eventually transitioning to the airlines and civilian airshow gigs that made him a particular favorite on the West side of the US and Canada. A pair of British Pilots have completed the first circumnavigation of the Earth in a restored Spitfire. On December 5th, The Silver Spitfire Longest Flight expedition came to a triumphant end as friends, family, colleagues, and hundreds of fans welcomed G-IRTY home to a frosty Goodwood Aerodrome. Escorted by two of the Red Arrows Display Team, The Silver Spitfire and the PC-12 support aircraft flew across the English Channel and over the White Cliffs before making it home safely. It was an emotional moment for all the crew and those who had turned out to show their support. Young people age 18 and under will be admitted free to EAA AirVenture
Oshkosh 2020 as a way to introduce more youth to the possibilities in the world of flight. Boeing is pYING FOR this effort for the next two years to encourage more aviation-minded families and their children to attend the event that brings more than 10,000 aircraft from around the world to Oshkosh each year. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
