Raytheon Awards Air Traffic Control Association's First-Ever Women In Aviation

Each Awardee Will Receive An $11,250 Cash Scholarship

Raytheon Company's Intelligence, Information and Services business awarded four Women in Aviation scholarships as part of the Air Traffic Control Association's (ATCA) Scholarship Fund Program. Each scholarship winner will receive an $11,250 cash scholarship to pursue an aviation-related degree.

"Closing the gender gap in aviation career fields means expanding educational opportunities for women," said Matt Gilligan, Raytheon vice president of Navigation, Weather and Services. "We are making a measurable contribution to close the gap, and our entire industry will benefit."

Administered by ATCA and announced in conjunction with the organization's 63rd annual conference, the Raytheon Women in Aviation Scholarship awardees include the following college students:

  • Alexis Cryts, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's Florida campus
  • Leonia Hunt, Florida Institute of Technology
  • Jennifer Maier, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's Florida campus
  • Mikayla Quesenberry, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's Arizona campus

"Scholarships like these are critical to engaging women and encouraging them to take on careers in aviation," said Pete Dumont, president and chief executive officer of ATCA. "This is our very first scholarship focused on advancing women in our industry, but it won't be our last."
