YouTube Video Shows Fatal Accident Off The Coast Of Ocean City, MD

Accident Fatally Injured Two, Both Off-Duty Police Officers

A YouTube video posted by a Maryland radio station shows an accident involving a Nanchang CJ-6A, a Chinese-built training airplane, which resulted in the fatal injury of the two people on board. Both men on board were identified as Maryland police officers who were off-duty at the time of the accident.

The two officers on board were 43-year-old Thomas Geoghegan, the plane's owner, and 27-year-old Joseph Adickes, according to the Washington Post.

The airplane went down Sunday in about 30 feet of water off the coast of Ocean City, MD. The radio station, WBAL in Baltimore, MD, reports that the plane impacted the water about a quarter mile off the beach at 130th street, according to a report appearing on NJ.com.

The two had departed from Ocean City Airport (KOXB) about 1530 EDT Sunday. The video begins as the plane is diving towards the ocean and shows the moment of impact, but none of the flight prior to the accident.

The Post reports that divers recovered the bodies of the two men on board from the aircraft Monday morning. The NTSB said it will study the video, as well as interview witnesses on the beach as part of its investigation.
