Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi Plans First Hospital Vertiport

Partnership Expands Archer’s Planned Network

Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi and Archer Aviation announced plans to establish the first hospital-based vertiport in the United Arab Emirates, to provide direct eVTOL aircraft access to one of the region’s most prominent hospital facilities.

The goal is to provide travel from Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi to nearby locations in minutes to significantly reduce travel times compared to ground transport. The two companies are developing use cases for both non-emergency passengers as well as time-critical organ transport.

Operations would utilize Archer’s Midnight electric aircraft that’s designed for up to four passengers and would use the passenger cabin for both purposes.

Archer plans to upgrade the existing helipad at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi to enable both helicopter and eVTOL operations.

Bryan Bernhard, Chief Growth & Infrastructure Officer at Archer said, “This partnership showcases the breadth of Archer’s network vision - connecting not just places, but pillars of life in Abu Dhabi. Following our first hybrid vertiport approval at the Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal earlier this year, this next location demonstrates how Archer and the GCAA are working together to unlock a city-wide ecosystem for advanced air mobility.”

Dr. Georges-Pascal Haber, CEO of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi said, “We are excited about the partnership with Archer to advance access to Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi’s patient-centered care. This new mode of emission-free transport aligns with Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi’s commitment to sustainability, gives additional options to many patients travelling to our hospital for care, and provides our thriving organ transplant program with fast logistics.”

Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi is an extension of Cleveland Clinic in the U.S. It is a multi-specialty hospital located on Al Maryah Island in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
