Gulfstream G650ER Adds Another Speed Record

Company Flagship Connects Australia And North America Nonstop

The Gulfstream G650ER recently claimed another city-pair record, this time linking Sydney to Los Angeles.

The G650ER departed Sydney Airport at 7:11 a.m. local time on March 11 and landed at Los Angeles International Airport at 1:51 a.m. local time on March 12.  The 6,620-nautical-mile flight took 12 hours and 40 minutes at an average cruise speed of Mach 0.86.

The record was approved by the U.S. National Aeronautic Association and is pending approval by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale in Switzerland for recognition as a world record.

“This latest speed record is another demonstration of the G650ER’s superior capabilities,” said Scott Neal, senior vice president, Worldwide Sales and Marketing, Gulfstream. “The unmatched range and speed of the G650ER enables operators to reach more destinations nonstop quickly and efficiently. No other business aircraft can connect Sydney to Los Angeles faster than the G650ER.”

The G650ER can travel 7,500 nm at Mach 0.85 and 6,400 nm at Mach 0.90. It has a maximum speed of Mach 0.925.

The G650ER cabin shares the same features and amenities as its sister ship, the G650, and provides passengers the healthiest and most comfortable cabin experience. The aircraft has the largest purpose-built business-jet cabin and offers passengers wider seats, more aisle room, 16 panoramic windows and the lowest cabin altitude of any business jet.

Gulfstream earned the 2014 Robert J. Collier Trophy for the development of the G650 family. The annual award is presented for the greatest achievement in aeronautics or astronautics in North America.

Together, the G650 and G650ER hold more than 55 world records.
