The Newest Chapter Of The IMC Club Is Hosted By The Manhattan Flight Club
The newest chapter of the IMC Club has been established in the heart of Manhattan ... at 99 Madison Ave. The IMC Club Manhattan Chapter is hosted by the Manhattan Flight Club and is intended to serve pilots whose work and the New York City traffic prevents them from trying to get to their local airport on a regular basis and stay proficient and current.
Staying proficient as a pilot in New York City presents a number of unique challenges...from long commutes to the airport to a limited flying season and the unpredictable northeast weather. The Manhattan Flight Club was launched to create a home for aviation right here in the center of Manhattan. Their focus is on building the aviation community, facilitating educational opportunities, and providing access to FAA approved training devices in their SIM Lab.
"I've been lucky to have been around aviation since I was a kid, and was able to get my Private and Instrument by age 18. Flying provided a solid foundation and exposed me to a sense of responsibility and adventure that still drives me to this day," said Taylor Jobe, the Manhattan Flying Club president, founder and the IMC Club Manhattan Chapter Leader.
“I want to say thank you to Taylor for volunteering his energy and resources and I can’t express enough how excited I am. It probably takes longer to drive a few blocks in New York City than to fly to maintain your proficiency once you are at the airport. Bringing Simulator resources and a discussion forum to the pilots is a genuinely great idea,” said Radek Wyrzykowski, IMC Club President.
IMC Club, through its worldwide chapters, provides organized “hangar flying” focused on building proficiency in instrument flying. It’s the only organization of its kind. The IMC Clubs concept is to bring together IFR-rated pilots who fly in the real-world “actual IMC” and provide them an opportunity to share stories, network with the larger pilot community, and gain valuable insights and tips for their IFR flying. All stories and scenarios produced by the club for use during chapter meetings are real and based on submission by their members. IMC Club Meetings provide a forum for promoting participation and discussion of IFR flying.
The first meeting of the IMC Club Manhattan group will be held in May of this year at Manhattan Flying Club, the host of the IMC Club Chapter there. The IMC Club meeting is open to all current, non-current, and future instrument pilots. At the meeting, prospective members will be given the opportunity to interact with IMC Club founder and President Radek Wyrzykowski.
Since its inception in 2011 supported by the aviation industry members like Hartzell Propeller and Jeppesen a Boeing Company, IMC Club International grew from 4 pilots in Norwood, MA to over 2700 registered members and over 125 Chapters globally.
