Sierra FJ-44 Stallion Flight Raises The Bar For Citation 500/501SP

Flies Over 1650 Nautical Miles In Under Four Hours

The results are in. On October 15, 2006 Sierra Industries CEO Mark Huffstutler flew his company's new Sierra Stallion nonstop from Scottsdale, AZ to Orlando, FL -– a distance of more than 1650 nautical miles –- in under four hours.

"This cross country flight to the NBAA convention in the Stallion demonstrates the range potential of our latest re-engining program," said Huffstutler. "Owners can count on a day to day range of 1400 nautical miles with their Stallion while cruising at Flight Level 430 and better than 380 knots true airspeed.”

The plane Huffstutler piloted -- a Stallion equipped with winglets -- hit a true airspeed of 389 knots, completing the 1654-nm trip in three hours, 57 minutes. The plane burned 458 gallons (3070 pounds) of fuel, and had 106 gallons remaining upon landing in Orlando.

A Cessna Citation 500/501SP featuring the more powerful Williams FJ44-2A engines, the Stallion is the latest in Sierra’s Citation product improvement program. The Stallion enjoys the added power of the FJ44 engine, but retains the thinner, classic wing of the Citation I.

The Stallion modification can be performed on any Citation 500 or 501SP and includes two new Williams International FJ44-2A engines. The modification can be done in as little as 10 weeks and is priced at $1,530,000. Sierra plans to complete 4 Stallions in 2006 and 9 Stallions in 2007.
