Canon Apparently Parts Company With AirVenture

Building Near The Press Center Vacated, Locked

For 34 years, Canon has had a presence at AirVenture, dispensing advice to professional and amateur photographers alike, and even operating a loaner program which put some pretty impressive camera gear into the hands of people who wanted to be able to shoot like a pro for the show.

But possibly no more.

On the blog of Jim Koepnick Photography, we learn that Canon has cleaned out its small building located near the AirVenture press center, from the brochures and furniture to the popular "Canofreeze 3700" from which the staff distributed ice cream treats to visitors. Apparently Canon will not be a part of Oshkosh this year.

Aero-Analysys (Editorial Staff) There is no indication as to what might have caused a falling out between Canon and AirVenture, although this may not be the last of the surprises about long-time sponsors and supporters of the event. ANN's staff and volunteers alike have benefited from the generous loaner policy afforded to attendees of the show to get some pretty spectacular still and video images the last week of each July.

But what we do know is that a 34-year-relationship has apparently ended. Whether it was a pure business decision on the part of Canon, the result of a still-struggling economy, or something else is so far an unanswered question. But the folks in that small building near the press center will certainly be missed.
