EASA To Host Second Space Weather Workshop In September

Invites Presentations From Stakeholders During The Event

The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) is planning the 2nd Space Weather Workshop to be hosted at the EASA headquarters, Cologne, Germany. The workshop will take place from September 4-6.

EASA notes that the outline agenda has been developed in coordination with ICAO, EUROCONTROL, European Commission and the European Space Agency; and that each will make presentations.

The workshop is intended to be inclusive, and as such invites presentations/talks from stakeholders.  The afternoon of the 2nd day will be given over to breakout sessions for further sharing of knowledge and experience.

The aims of the workshop are to:

Raise awareness of the effects of space weather on the aviation system;
Raise awareness of the implementation of ICAO space weather information services, applicable 8 November 2018

Accordingly the workshop is open to air operators, air navigation service providers, national aviation authorities and representatives of industry bodies (IATA, CANSO, IFALPA etc).
It is also hoped that space weather researchers with particular interest in the effects of space weather on the aviation system will also be able to participate.

There is a fee for participation (EUR200), although for those making presentations, the fee is waived.
