Top Air Show Performers Make Early Confirmations For EAA AirVenture 2012

Night Air Show, Fireworks Return To Cap Off Final Evening At 60th Annual Fly-In

It's January. In many places of the world, it's darn cold. So what better way to chase away the winter blues than to start thinking about Oshkosh ... Wisconsin in July.

The show is on the minds of many of the world’s top air show performers, who have already given early confirmations to participate at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2012, the 60th annual “World’s Greatest Aviation Celebration” scheduled for July 23-29 at Wittman Regional Airport.

Among the highlights for the afternoon air show lineup in 2012 is Chuck Aaron’s Red Bull aerobatic helicopter, the AeroShell Aerobatic Team, Matt Younkin and his Twin Beech, Bob Carlton and the Jet Sailplane, and Warbird Spectaculars (including expanded shows on Friday and Saturday featuring pyrotechnics). Also scheduled are Sean Tucker and his Pitts, Gene Soucy and his Showcat, and Mike Goulian and his Extra. In addition, Greg Koontz and the Alabama Boys will help celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Piper Cub during EAA AirVenture 2012, as will the return of Kyle Franklin flying in his PA-18 Super Cub comedy routine.

“Each of these performers work as a headline act at air shows throughout the country, but they come together at in Oshkosh to form an all-star roster of the ‘best of the best,’” said Rod Hightower, EAA President/CEO. “Each afternoon’s showcase and air show create a daily attraction that simply cannot be seen anywhere else but EAA AirVenture, which has the most knowledgeable and appreciative audiences on the air show circuit.”

The afternoon air show is an anticipated spectacle each day at EAA AirVenture, providing an exciting way to round out to a full day on the Oshkosh flightline. In 2012, the best elements of the daily air show and the “showcase” flying from previous years will again be combined to provide several hours of exciting and entertaining aerial entertainment. To cap the week, the widely popular night air show and fireworks will be held on Saturday, July 28, to thrill attendees with a mix of aerobatics and pyrotechnics all musically choreographed.

Exact daily performance schedules will be finalized in the weeks prior to EAA AirVenture and will be announced through the event’s extensive website. Advance purchase admission tickets and camping for AirVenture 2012 are now available online as well.

Daily air shows at EAA AirVenture are presented by Rockwell Collins.
